The Silver Jar

"My own business bores me to death; I prefer other people's" – Oscar Wilde

The Silver Jar, bubbling with water, was the object chosen by Oscar Wilde in his story ‘The Nightingale and the Rose’ to describe the beautiful sound of the Nightingale’s song. A powerful image, perfectly used to create a very soft sound.

This imagery is so subtle, and yet so poignant in my memory. I seek to use my own Silver Jar to create a voice as lovely as Wilde’s nightingale.
